Kune Kune Pigs

Kune Kune pigs are making headway into small scale farms across our country, and there are several reasons we chose them for our homestead. Kune Kunes are known for being docile, friendly, and extremely easy to handle. These pigs are pasture raised on our homestead and are well-known for being a grazing animal. They do not generally root the earth since their snouts are shorter and they require much less grain than other hogs.

Kune Kunes are known for being bred as a lard pig and having beautifully marbled meat, wrapped in a nice layer of fat, keeping the flavor and juices locked in. On our homestead, we prefer a very lean meat, so we use the fat to render lard for things like frying, baking, and seasoning meals.

Available Piglets

We currently have piglets available. We have red tri & black tri piglets. Breeding pigs will be registered and are $500-750 each. Pets and feeders are $250 and will not have breeding rights. Homesteader Pigs are also available. If you are interested in purchasing a Kune Kune pig from our homestead, please send us an email at pagefamilyhomestead@gmail.com

They do take longer to mature than the typical feeder pig, but if you are patient, it is much worth the ‘weight’. Weighing between 200-350 pounds and standing 18-24” tall, Kunes are considered a mid-size pig.

If raising your own meat isn’t right for your family, Kune Kunes make wonderful farm family pets. They thrive on human interaction, other small livestock, and of course, belly rubs. Continue scrolling and meet our Kune Kunes here on the homestead: Betty, Brutus, and Charlotte.
